ROADMASTER BRACKET FOOTNOTES: |

1. Minor trimming of the spoiler, air dam or plastic fascia may be required on some models of this vehicle.
2. Fog lights must be removed if present on this vehicle.
3. Trimming of the lower air dam and/or cowling is required on this model.
4. 84-89 Acura Integras utilize two different brackets. The distinction is usually between 2 dr. and 4 dr. However, very rarely, the frames have been interchanged requiring the opposite bracket design. To verify which bracket is necessary, look at the bolts that hold the E-A unit is bolted on with 3 bolts at 1,7 and 9 o'clock positions, then the (s/o) 1510-3 designed for the 2 dr. is necessary. If it is bolted on with 2 bolts at the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock positions, then the (s/o) 1510-1 designed for the 4 dr. is to be used.
5. 84-90 Caravans and Voyagers utililzed two different bumpers. The "metal bumper" has a steel or aluminum bumper that is visible. It may have plastic trim or plastic end caps, but a good portion of the metal bumper is visible. The "plastic bumper" has a plastic skin or fascia that completely covers the steel bumper core. No metal is visible.
6. 85-88 Sprints utilized two types of sway bar mounting brackets. If the brackets are perpendicular to the sway bar, then the (s/o) 110-1 is needed. If the brackets are at an angle to the sway bar, then the (s/o) 109-1 is necessary.
7. Most Renegades, Wranglers, and CJ's utilize a steel bumper that is shaped like a "U". This steel bumper has a flat top and face which the 38208 or 38207 brackets bolt on to. However some versions incorporate bumpers without a flat face and top which prevents the use of these brackets. 98 Jeep Wrangler uses 38531, if the front bumper has bumperettes.
8. From 80-84, Subaru utilized 2 types of E-A units (Energy Absorbing Units). E-A units are the steel struts that join the bumper to the frame of the vehicle. These units are designed to collapse on impact and absorb the energy from collision. They are bolted to the front of each frame rail and to the back of the bumper. One type utilized by Subaru was round, while the other was square. If your vehicle has the round-tube hydraulic E-A unit, use the (s/o) 905-1 mounting bracket kit. If your vehicle has the standard square-tube E-A unit, use the (s/o) 902-1 bracket kit.
9. Due to the different front-end trim packages used on these Ford and Mercury cars, it may be necessary to take a measurement in order to obtain the proper bracket kit. The measurement is taken from the front face of the frame, where it ends just behind the bumper (below the radiator). Measure from this point horizontally to the outside face of the bumper.
If the measurement is:
9-1/2 or less-use the s/o: 421-1 bracket
11-1/2 or less-use the 471-1 (39093) bracket; use the (s/o) 417-3 bracket if there is no painted plastic under the bumper.
13-1/2 or less-use the s/o: 415-1 bracket

11. Measure outside to outside across the front of the sub-frame horns under the insolation damper.

12. Two different tie down placements can be found on the 84-85 Honda Accords. A measurement must be taken from the center of the first bolt going up into the sub-frame directly behind the tie down plate to the center of the eye on bracket. If this is approx. 4-3/4, use the (s/o) #1505-1 bracket.
13. If the vehicle has tack-welded tie down plates, the plates will have to be removed before mounting the brackets. This will add to the installation time.
14. Add 1.5 hours if vehicle has tow hooks. Hooks and brackets must be removed in order for brackets to fit.
15. 38202, 96 Suzuki Sidekick- Check crossover tube. If ends are open, use the 38250. If the ends are blocked, use the 38203.
16. 38250, 96 Suzuki Sidekick XL- Check crossover tube. If ends are open, use the 38250. If the ends are blocked, use the (s/o) 118-15.
17. If vehicle has bumper extension (guard), use (s/o) 139-3.
18. To determine which of several brackets you may need, locate the four (4) bolts securing the subframe to the unibody on the underside of the vehicle, just behind the lower radiator support. Look at these bolts from the passenger's side, across the underside, to the driver's side. Are all of these bolts in a straight line? If not, which bolts are out of line? Next does the lower radiator support extend below the subframe? Now, measure from the center of either one of the inside subframe bolts straight out to the middle of the underside of the bumper. Secondly, measure from the same subframe bolt straight out to the front edge of the bumper. Please have this information available before calling to order.
19. On 95-96 Eagle Summits, inspect the bumper. If white or dark grey, use (s/o) 803-1. If silver, there is no bracket available.
20. Inspect the tie down plates on the front of the frame. If attached with three bolts use the (s/o) 503-1; if welded use the (s/o) 503-2. Also measure from the center of the lower front bolt to the lip of the air dam. If 4-1/2" (approx.) use (s/o) 503-1. If 6-1/2" (approx.) use (s/o) 503-3.
21. The only RAV4 that is towable is the 2WD, 5 speed. No Remco units available for automatics or 4WD.
22. Application for 131 Series kits. Two different frame mounting locations may be found on 87 and newer GMC trucks and SUVs. To determine which 131 Series kit to use, measure the distance between the centerline of the slotted hole on the bottom of the frame and the centerline of the lowest side mounting hole. Note the slotted hole can run vertical or horizontal. If the measurement is approx. 3", use kits 38204, 38251 (XL bracket) or 38600 (XL bracket). If the measurement is approx. 1-1/4" use kits (s/o) 131-2, 38898, or (s/o) 131-17 (XL bracket). Also refer to note #1.
23. Inspect tie down loops. If welded and horizontal to the ground, use kit (s/o) 1501-1. If bolted and vertical to the ground, use (s/o) 1520-2.
24. Bracket will not fit if the vehicle has an aftermarket air conditioner.
25. On the 91-96 Jeep Cherokee, the plastic under the bumper must be trimmed, and a small bumper strap needs to be cut. All 38417 & 38532 made before 9-18-97 will NOT fit Cherokees with tow hooks.
26. 38532 May be substituted for the 38206, however, footnote 25 then applies. All 38417 & 38532 made before 9-18-97 will NOT fit Cherokees with tow hooks.
27. A measurement must be taken to determine the correct bracket for the 74-93 Bolbos. Locate the tow ring on the passenger side that is attached by 3 bolts to the frame. Measure from the center of the bumper to the center of the closest bolt hole that secures the tow ring. If 9" use (s/o) 1701-1. If 8" use (s/o) 1701-3. (As a secondary check measure from the bottom of the frame to the bottom of the bumper. If 2" use (s/o) 1701-1; if 1" use (s/o) 1701-3.
28. Use the (s/o) 445-16 instead of 38240 if your Windstar has the rear passenger air conditioning system.
29. Both the 97 and newer Chrysler Cirrus, Dodge Stratus and Plymouth Breeze utilize 2 different motor sub frame mounts. One sub frame has a substantial 1-1/2" x 2" rectangular bent tube going underneath the engine near the motor mounts. Stratus and Breeze with this sub frame require (s/o) 247-3. Stratus and Breeze with no cross member under the engine (near the motor mount) require (s/o) 247-8.
30. Some vehicles will require Quick-Disconnect brackets for the additional space needed for TRACKER tow bar to fit properly.
31. Trimming of horizontal rib in lower grill is necessary on '98 and newer Plymouth Voyagers.
32. Check the bottom front frame rail adjacent to the tie down plates for factory holes or frame nuts. If present use 38232 bracket kit. If NO holes are present use (s/o) 329-1.
33. No Remco Available for automatics.
34. Jeeps with factory fog lights will have to move fog lights 1" out from the stock position to clear mounting hardware.
35. Customers should check and make sure that front tie down loop are present before ordering kit.
36. Although the same basic frame was used on all Chevy & GMC pickups and SUVs from 87-00, slight frame variations require different brackets to accommodate all of these vehicles. Carefully read the following to determine the correct bracket. For 87-98 Chevy & GMC trucks or SUVs, measure the distance from rear-most slotted hole (on the bottom of the frame) to lower-most threaded hole (on the side of the frame). The hole on the bottom of the frame is slotted and may run from front to back or from side to side. See top Chart below to determine the correct bracket. For 99 & newer Chevy & GMC trucks or SUVs, if the tow hooks are bolted externally to the bottom of the frame, use the instructions above for 87-98 Chevy/GMC trucks & SUVs. If the tow hooks are bolted internally in the frame rail use bottom chart to determine the correct bracket. **For 1/2 ton 2 wheel drive only, check front suspension for torsion bar or coil spring. If you have a torsion bar use 38767 XL or 38768 MX. If you have a coil spring use 38994 XL or (s/o) 199-9 MX. For 3/4 ton 2-wheel drive with torsion bar use 39088.

37. This bracket will accommodate any Roadmaster motorhome mounted tow bar. This bracket is designed for heavier vehicles. Make sure the tow bar you use exceeds the weight of the vehicle to be towed when fully loaded. Anchor brackets for Sterling cables will not fit MX or MS style brackets. To use MS or MX bracket with Sterling tow bar the Sterling cable anchors must be attached to the frame of the vehicle or welded to the receiver portion of the bracket.
38. This frame utilizes two types of tie downs. If the tie down is bolted in then use bracket (s/o) 606-1, if the tie down is welded in use bracket number 607-4.
39. Bulb wiring kit (part 155) needed.
40. On 2002 models only: need to check for sub-frame mounting botls These bolts are located under a splash panel behind the bumper. These bolts hold the engine cradle to the main frame. If these bolts are present use a 194 series bracket. |
